Weekly Showcase - September 6th 2023

Well done, you have reached the great month of September. Why is it great? Well... I don't really know... I wasn't expecting to have to answer that. Just roll with it and get over it, so we can get started on looking at this month's first showcase!

Let's get started with this wonderfully original take on Nurgle by Jay. I really love this sculpt, having painted one myself, but have never come across any Nurgle in this beautiful shade of Blue. Whist it shouldn't work, it just does. Almost as if no Nurgle(y) specimen should ever have been coloured green. The little pops of fleshy tones, as well as the intricately painted mouth, finish off the model doing all sorts of puss ridden favours for it. Jay has provided me some inspiration to tackle some more Nurgle. If you'd like some too, then please go and check out his page!

Next up is this little man offered up by an aptly named page. This artist has employed his own version of the bright orange colour scheme so often found on thee guys, and I dig it. Dark greens and reds will always work beautifully, and this model is no different. After I painted a whole commission of these guys, I know how deceivingly difficult they are to paint, so kudos for ensuring no detail was missed here. Would be cool to see a large force painted up in this scheme. If you'd also like to see that, then check this artist out in case they also agree!

We've got this beautiful picture to run our eyes over now. This artist has provided a wonderfully fitting backdrop to this model, connoting the grim and dreary world he lives in. However, fear not, for this wizard has chosen to combat that with a beautifully ornate, galaxy inspired cloak. A huge amount of skill has been employed here to blend the blues, purples, pins and oranges together so seamlessly, with a huge patience required to apply the white detailing. Truly remarkable and inspiring work, and if you'd like to see more, you'll have to go have a look at this artist!

Closing things up for us today is another of one of my favourite sculpts, painted up rather beautifully by Kostis. It's a model that I feel would suit any colour scheme, and one that I do find that I also love the box art scheme for it. I'm a big fan of how this artist has painted the skin, with a real talent for their brush strokes. As someone who has painted up a lot of Tzeentch, I too have used almost the exact same basing style with those tufts, so clearly Kostis is doing the right thing there! If you'd like to check out more of his work, then please go look at his page!

That's all we've got for you this week. What a great start to September, and I can assure you, the offerings we've got for the rest of September will be equally as good. You may or may not agree, this is a subjective matter after all. All I can say is, make sure you keep your eyes peeled to check them out when they release! If you would like to be featured in the future, then please get in contact via plasticpreacher@gmail.com or @plasticpreacher on Instagram.

See you next week!
