Weekly Showcase - 19th June 2024

Welcome back to abother week and therefore another weekly showcase. Your next dose of weekly inspiration is now upon you, so behold and beware; your life may never be the same again after finding your new favourite artist. Or...well, you'll just carry on with your life like you normally do. Either way, let's get stuck in.

First up today is Kohari and his beautiful take on this greenskin fellow. I really dig the choice to merge both a dark and gritty palette with the over saturated tones of the green. That dark style fits these sculpts wonderfully, but it is the saturated tones that bring all the pop and colour, and allows the merging of these two styles to flourish. The subtle tone changes of the green has been acheived masterfully, with such smooth and clean blending. That alongside the basing provides all the atmosphere for this piece. Make sure you do something very worthwhile, and check out Kohari's page for more!

Up next, we have this paintjob courtesy of Katarzyna to indulge with our retinas. I never get tired of seeing Cities of Sigmar paintjobs, and this is no different. Deviating away from the typically gritty style of these sculpts, the paintjob here is impeccably smooth! The expert brush control allows for a beautifully smooth finish, truly shown off by the blending and highlighting on offer. It's just quite simply a beautiful piece of art, with so many more amazing paintjobs over on Katarzyna's page, so go and check her out!

Andrea provides us with our next paintjob, and it's equally as spectacular. This is another artist who consistently creates such smooth and impressive pieces through their expert brush control, it's hard to show off just one. But I find this one in particular blends both a somewhat classic style, with this more modern and smooth style we so often see. The technical control over the smooth blending and highlighting of all the tones allows for such a wonderful end result; it should be enough to get you working harder! If you'd like a little more, you can go check out Andrea's page now!

Our final piece of the day is this fantastic explosion of colour. This paintjob is a real testament to colour theory and skill with blending. No part of the transition between colours is jarring, purely down to an expert job in utilising so many different colours. I absolutely love the incredibly unique choice to have the individual colours spilling onto the rims as if the paint is leaking; it's very, very cool and almost as if this particular sculpt was built for it. Really wonderful stuff, and much more to be found on this artist's page!

And that is all we have time and space for today. I hope you have thoroughly enjoyed the offerings on show here today, and can take at least some form of inspiration from it on your journey. Make sure to thank the artists responsible for doing so, as I thank them for allowing me to feature their work! If you'd like these showcases to continue weekly, you need to submit your work to be featured! I'm running out of people willing to do so, which I cannot understand, as I'd love to be immortalised forever on a platform dedicated to shining the light on each and every one of us. Let's prove that this community really does have the community spirit we constantly say, and be proud in sharing our work to inspire others. If you've got other ideas for things you'd like to talk about, please get in touch. This blog is here for you! You can do so via here, plasticpreacher@gmail.com or @plasticpreacher via Instagram.
