Congratulations, you've survived to May! And as a reward, I've got some great pieces of work for you to peruse your eyes over. I mean, I'd still have this blog for you even if you did die, but obviously you wouldn't be able to enjoy it with your mortal eyes, so just be grateful you're still breathing maybe?
First up is an incredible piece of artistry. I always think it takes a huge amount of skill to be able to create such a wonderful paintjob using a very muted palette. The OSL effect is masterfully applied (and with a brush no doubt, so suck on that airbrush users), it creates such a huge amount of atmosphere. Again, to restrict yourself to a muted colour scheme, and still be able to have an end result like this one, is perhaps one of the most underrated skills in this whole hobby. Please go and check out Siôn's page to see what else he masters!
I don't often like to just show off the rear of something, but when I do, it's because of something like this. This somewhat starry night inspired paintjob on the wings is rather breathtaking, that even with such a far away shot, you can pick out all the individual details. You also know a paintjob is truly fantastic, when you just can't decide which angle to show off. That was certainly the case here, as the front of the dragon is incredible, as well as the basing done to a superb standard. I strongly recommend you go check out Adam's page to have a look at all the angles available on this beautiful piece!

I love it when I see such a refreshing take on a model, that it breathes new life into it. First of all, that beautiful shade of off-white is rather remarkable and provides a lovely base for the main attraction here; the moss. It's such a simple technique to use, but one I haven't really seen before, and just completely inspires me to do something weird for one of my future projects. The inspiration that Conor has provided, to go and do something different with a model, is what I love about seeing others' work. Please check his page out to see his other mossy creations!

Often my favourite paint jobs are those which are the most simple. This is just that, with such a classic paint job on a classic model. No special thrills, just pure talent in creating a beautiful miniature piece of art. The gore has been achieved so realistically too, you can almost feel the pain. Luckily for all of us, technology hasn't advanced that much, so we're all spared from actually feeling anything physically. But the feelings of inspiration we can take from Phor's work, would be worth that pain. Have a look at his page to see what else he has on offer for you!
And that concludes our first showcase in May! This was a real nice batch of eclectic models, paintjobs and styles, and that's always the best way for it to be. Life is boring enough already if we listen to objective truths and only look at the world in black and white, so let's not let our enjoyment in miniature painting become stained in the same way! And to help me with that, you could get in touch with your own or other's work to be showcased too... this is, after all, a community of people is it not? So let's work together!
