Weekly Showcase - May 31st 2023

Updated: Jun 24, 2023

Hello and welcome to our final showcase of May. Today we've got a nice eclectic selection for you to peruse your eyes over, so let's have a look!

Kicking things off today for us is this wonderful little dioramic piece. Using resin to create realistic water pieces is still relatively new to me, so I'm always in awe of those who seem to have mastered it, much like this artist. The murky green water looks so incredibly real, with the bubbles and sea plants, I swear I saw something move. The paintjob on Gollum is pretty wonderful too, and having a look through this artists page, you'll see that all of their paint jobs are worthy of perusing. Please do go and check them out!

Our second paintjob today is from the rather talented Yannick. Here we can see his take on Be'lakor, choosing to go with a rather cold feel through the use of his colour scheme. I really love how with the use of a few cold, muted colours, a very atmospheric finish is achieved. The blending of those icy blues into the cold void of black has been expertly utilised to ensure the transitions are as smooth as ice. That's the last cold reference I'll use, but if you'd like to see more, then check out Yannick's page!

I've seen this model circulating around a bit, and have never really come a cross a paintjob I particularly liked. That was until I saw this one! This artist has used some beautiful shades of blue contrasting against mahogany style browns to great effect. The creation of this colour scheme has caused me to finally see a painted version of this model that has caused me some visual stimulation! The paintjob itself is super clean, and the little gems have been painted skillfully. I would love to see a whole army painted up in this colour scheme, it's truly pleasing to the eye. If you'd like to please your eyes too, then check out the rest of this artists work!

To top off this week's showcase, we have this fiery cherry for the cake. I think you're generally hard pressed to find unique colour schemes for the traditional skeletons of fantasy painting, so it gave me great pleasure to come across this little guy. Joshua has managed to succeed in showing what heartburn really looks like, and that's an achievement in itself. But in all seriousness, I love the idea behind this paintjob, and the blending of those warm tones is really fantastic. I'm inspired to try and do something similar. If you are inspired too, then please check out his page!

And with the end of this week's showcase, we also end this month of May. Did you have a good time? Anything eventful happen? Had a visit from the local crackhead now the weather's a bit warmer? No, me neither. I hope he's doing alright.
