Weekly Showcase - May 17th 2023

Updated: Jun 24, 2023

Welcome back! If you're just joining us, then you've missed a whole boatload of exceptional artists and paint jobs, so shame on you. If you want to redeem that shame, then please go and take a look back at the previous showcases to get up to speed! For those returning, we've got some more wonderful pieces to have a look at this week.

We're starting off this week with a wonderful take on the Jade Obelisk. Really sticking it to the man with this one, ignoring the green jade for a beautiful shade of purple and wondrous multi coloured sections, this paint job comes together fantastically. Haven't quite seen a scheme like this one on these guys, and with my own warband sat waiting for their time to shine, it's absolutely inspiring me to come up with something that gives them as much credit as Ben has given his. If you check out his page, you'll see how amazing the rest of them look in detail!

As I've said too many times now, I love the lizardmen (Seraphon) and always get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing them painted. This particular skink in question has been expertly painted, with wonderful degrees of blue across the skin and scales, contrasting to great effect against the somewhat Jamaican inspired feathers. The basing on this one is also incredibly impressive, telling the story of ancient civilisations' being forgotten by time and nature. If that wasn't the plan, then extra marks for doing so by accident. If you like atmospheric and gritty looking paintjobs and bases, then you must go ahead and check out this artists page!

When I first started painting and found myself on Instagram to see what this whole community was all about, Rainer was one of the first artists I came across. At that point, he was painting vast quantities of lizardmen, which sucked me right in. He has a pretty cool classic style to his painting, and one I find refreshing amongst all the clean cut airbrushing I see now. This model has received the same treatment and looks beautiful for it. I'd advise you to check out his page, as with the sheer number of miniatures he has painted, you're in for a treat!

We end this weeks showcase with another unique take on the Stormcast. This kind artist is the only person to have reached out to me thus far, and tell me they enjoyed these showcases. It was only right to share something of theirs, so luckily they had a selection of beautiful works to pick from! I love this warm autumnal colour scheme for the Stormcast, giving them a new lease of life. It gives me a fuzzy sensation of nostalgia, to a Sunday evening sunset. Oh wait, actually that's anxiety. If you want the thrill of anxiety or nostalgia, then please check out his page!

That's all for this week. We're starting to build quite the collection of artists and art here, and I couldn't be happier with how it's going. Well... I could, I could almost certainly always be happier, but it wouldn't be right to complain, so I won't. But if you do want to make me happier, then please spread the word of this blog so it can reach a great many more people, therefore spreading our collective art across the world!
