Welcome back to an extra special showcase, as this one is the 52nd consecutive one. A whole years worth of showcases, featuring a total of 204 (soon to be 208) artists and their wonderful works of art. That's a whole lot of inspiration you've been able to source from, so I truly hope you've given all of the artists featured the attention they deserve, as a thank you.
Our first of the final four of the year is Jonas and his beautiful book worm. This is a really cool model, and it's lovely to see the paint scheme moving more towards yellow than green. It very much keeps the theme of nurgle allve, whilst being unique in itself. The painting style is really cool too, mastering those blends to create smooth transitions between colours. And the pool of ink forming from the end of his quill; what an awesome little touch, that conveys the general grossness of Nurgle without explicitly using slime or puss. Really cool stuff and more to be found over at Jonas' page!
Next we've got Matt providing us his beautifully elegant and clean man of Sigmar. I'm currently struggling through coming up with a cool scheme for these guys, so it's great to see Matt has already done so. Utilising the yellow and black contrast of the armour is a wonderful choice, and allows a model full of metal to still pop. Emphasising that is that both silver and gold are still used on the finer details. Also, that's an amazing face, so good job. Check Matt's page for more of his awesome work!
Alex is up next, bringing a little classic AoS nostalgia with the good old Kruleboyz. Following the classic green skin scheme, Alex has ensured a masterful and clean paintjob featuring enough colour to keep the piece interesting. Perhaps my favourite aspect of the overall paintjob, is that lovely work on the blending of the pink on the ends of the skin such as fingers and lips. It adds so much extra pop in such a subtle way, that I need to start doing something similar in my own work. Really lovely stuff overall, and there's much more to be found over on Alex's page!
Oscar is closing this monumental show today for us all, with one of the more interesting sculpts of the past couple years. A gritty and powerful sculpt deserves no less in it's paintjob, and Oscar has made sure to answer that call. Utilising the classic reds of the vampires, paired with that pinkish white pale skin, this one really looks the part. However, the absolute best part of this paintjob, is the amazing brushwork on the cloak to create that texture where there is none. So much more amazing work to be found on Oscar's page!
And that concludes an entire years worth of weekly showcases, never missing a single week. Not trying to suck myself off or anything, but that's impressive for someone who regularly forgets everything. We've had 208 different artists, each showing a piece of their art, and I'm so grateful to all of them who decided to at least share these showcases around, to support each other. These weekly showcases are an attempt to have a dedicated and separate platform, where we can all support each other's art and draw limitless inspiration from each other. I hope that after a year of doing them, you have found at least one piece that gave you some inspiration to start something, or found your new favourite artists through them. And of course, a big thanks to the four artists featured today, make sure you do the right thing by checking out their pages to see more of their work. If you haven't been featured, then please get in touch to be so. I generally try to reach out to people, but it's hard getting through to everyone, and for the 208 artists that have replied to me, there's probably nearly 400 more who haven't. If you would like to be featured in the future, then please get in touch via here, plasticpreacher@gmail.com or @plasticpreacher via Instagram. Thanks for all of your time in reading these showcases for the past year!
Great achievement, well done on the year! I really value these inspiration and as a way of staying connected to the community, your efforts are greatly appreciated :)
I am so glad you are making these, not only do they highlight artists in a dedicated space, but your commentary is so pure and honest. To have been featured in your year of updates was such an honour and I will keep my eyes peeled every week for the next one.
