Weekly Showcase - January 3rd 2024

Well look at that; we have all successfully made it into 2024. A big congratulations are in order, because let's face it, it's becoming more and more challenging just to exist in this sad world. But you have made it, and you deserve a reward. So please, let's all enjoy the first showcase of this year, check out the artists featured, and expel a little more effort in inspiring and being inspired with our wonderful miniature art.

Kicking off the action for this new year is John and his amazing Space Marine. Sometimes when you've painted an amazing paint job, you just can't rest on your laurels. From the beautiful highlighting, to OSL and NMM, and even the blood, this paint job is incredible. However, John has taken it a few steps further, by creating such an extensive, dark and cool base, mixed with rubble, limbs and bones (my favourite broth). I truly love this piece, and I'm sure you do too. Please go and give John some of your time!

Up next is this beautifully dark and cool Gutrippa. I've started to see a few more colour schemes that are much cooler in tones, with lots of blues instead of greens. I'm a big fan of this route, and it gives a new dimension to these sculpts. Here we can see those wonderful tones being shown off, and boy does it suit these friendly little fellas. The skin tone is a really strong blue/green that I'm here for at least 5 days a week. I'm also a big fan of the oxidised shield, allowing even more of those blue/green tones to come through. Really lovely work, and much more to be found over at this artists page!

Third up is a Tom and his super awesome converted piece. Mixing both Bloodbowl and Age of Sigmar together has created this beautifully fabulous model, that doesn't look out of place in the world. The armour itself is a really lovely shade of green, but it's obviously the wings that stand out here. Given the layers of feathers, nothing seems to fit wings more than rainbow colours, and starting with the blues to contrast the greens was a wonderful choice. Eye catchingly pretty, and more to be found at Tom's page!

Victor is closing the show for us today, knocking the colour wheel back a bit with his Terminator Captain. This specific paint job is proof that a muted colour scheme can still pop with colour. The beautiful work on the heraldry and trims allow the details of the model to shine through, whilst the muted base colours act to keep the paint job grounded. The subtle weathering on the armour, as well as the awesome work done on the sword, bring an inspirational tear to my eye. Go and do yourself favour, and check out Victor and his page!

And that's it for our first showcase of 2024! What a year this is going to be! And even if it isn't, probably best to start off the year overtly optimistic, allowing the potential to channel all the goodness in the world, into our lives. We can absolutely make more of an effort to support the wonderful art and artists of this hobby though, and you can start right here, by simply checking out the artists featured. Who knows where that simple act of seeking inspiration will take you...

I wish you all a happy new year, and for great success in all your endeavours this year. If I can help in any way, then please let me know!
