Congratulations on surviving to this festive month of merriments. As a completely non-christmassy reward, here is another weekly showcase for you to indulge in.
Getting that metaphorical ball rolling is Chris and his paint job on this Stormiest Eternal. I always love seeing all the many different colour schemes for these guys (and there's a lot!), and this one was a real treat to come across. The overall vibe of the piece is relatively muted, so when you actually look closer, you can see how colourful the piece is. There are blues, greens and purples, amongst browns and golds. They all work so beautifully together, and shows how a muted palette can work wonders. I'm also a big fan of the texture on the blue loincloth. Really beautiful work and there's a lot more where that came from, so check Chris out!
Nick is our next case study to ogle over, with his beautiful Tyranid. I really love the cartoony style of painting on these little alien bugs, which is mainly down to that highlighting (which I'm sure took far too long). Totally worth it though, because it has truly elevated the overall paint job. I also love the contrast of the purple to the grey/blue, and allows for all the details to be visible, even through this tiny picture. If you want to see how good the rest of Nick's work is, check out his page!
Raul is up next, and boy has he impressed the blue blooded lover within me. This is a fairly heavily converted piece, sticking a Scar-Veteran onto one of the great new Aggradon sculpts. If that seamless conversion wasn't enough for you, then surely the awesome saturated painting style is. This style suits the reptiles so wonderfully, allowing these beautiful pops of colour to emit from the model. It is so very pretty, and I could stare a while longer. Please go and look at it in more detail over at Raul's page!
Closing the show for us today is Travis and his immaculately clean Terminator. I really am in awe of how clean and neat this paint job is. I'm pretty sure this is the result of an airbrush, but if this was a brush in your human hand, then please take a bow Travis. From experience, I didn't really enjoy painting these guys up, and I know that's down to the colours scheme I used. This one however, which looks somewhat grounded in military realism, suits the model perfectly. Shows that you don't always need to go with vibrant colours. Please go check out Travis' page!
That's it for this one! I hope you have enjoyed what you've seen, and feel a little trickle of inspiration warming your cold heart. If you did, then you know what to look out for next week!
