Hello and welcome back to our post-Christmas showcase, and the final showcase of this year. That's right, not even Christmas will stop me from creating these showcases each week for you all, you lucky so and so's. So I hope you're all rested and full of festive goodness, let's have a look at what we've got for the last showcase of 2023!
1) @ raulian_wargames
First up is Raulian and his beautifully vibrant creature of darkness. Sticking a finger up at the gritty and grimy palette you would expect to see on this model, Raulian has created an awesome synth wave-esque scheme that does this sculpt wonders. The cool tones of the blues contrasting that of the purples just gets my retinas going. The blending of tones really is masterful work, which can be really appreciated further by looking at the details up close. Go head over to Raulian's page so you can do just that right now!
2) @mamikonpaints
Next up is Mamikon and his rather cool black templar. I've found it quite hard to paint black well, but this problem is not shared here. The black is deep enough in colour to feel void-like, whilst also having the fine grey highlights to stop it feeling flat. The red tones of the cloth and the trims work perfectly against the black armour, further complimented by all the gold detailing. The final cherry on top is the awesome OSL work on the helmet, really giving the illusion of being lit up. Great stuff, and much more to be found over on Mamikon's page!
3) @jame_paints
We've got James up next treating us to his cute little harmless alien. This is absolutely my favourite colour scheme I've seen on this guys, by quite a long shot. It really is such a beautifully cool palette, which just looks so good on these creepy sculpts. It gets a lot more impressive when you see a few of his paint jobs all together. It's a real challenge to use muted versions of colours, and still have a vibrant end result. Also, kudos on the cool and subtle basing across the board. Please do yourself a favour and check James' page out!
4) @si.diaz
Closing the show and therefore the year for us today is Si and his terminator. I'm a big fan of this more grounded colour scheme, I think it suits the sculpts much more than their poster boy blue. It helps that this paint job is super smooth and clean, allowing all the details to pop. My favourite part of this piece is the expert work on weathering and OSL, finishing off the model. If you'd like to see more, go check out this guy's page now!
And with that, we say goodbye to the artists featured in this weeks showcase, but also to 2023. Has it been a good year for you? Did you achieve all the things you wanted to? Or has it been rather forgettable? Well, whichever camp you're in, have no fear, for 2024 is right around the corner, and offers a chance at doing things differently!
So with that, I shall bid you all farewell, thank you all for reading these weekly showcases this past year, and I will see you next year, for the first showcase on the first Wednesday of 2024.
