Weekly Showcase - August 9th 2023

Another week, another showcase. Have you read every showcase so far? Why haven't you, you heathen! Well we've got a pretty cool varied bunch for you today so let's get stuck in!

1) @olthar

Antonio is getting things going for us first, with this exceptional piece. I was completely blown away when I first saw this diorama, with the use of OSL blending the blues and pinks together, to create a paintjob that absolutely oozes atmosphere. The bullet holes in that poor green fella are so wonderfully done, it kind of makes me want to get shot so I can sport those cool orange holes. From the painting itself, to the dynamism, to the idea behind the diorama; this is truly an amazing piece, and this artist absolutely deserves your attention, so check him out!

Moving on from one of my favourite 40k paintjobs, here we find ourselves at one of my favourite Seraphon pieces. This artist has such a charmingly unique way of painting, which lends itself to the lizards of Warhammer perfectly. The bright multi-colours utilised here do wonders for this model especially, with so much detail on display, I feel like my eyes might have a stroke. The colour scheme really is so very captivating; it is one of thos emodels in which I could stare at all day, and still find myself visually stimulated (emphasis on visually). I'm truly inspired, and that's the greatest gift that can be given through a paintjob. Please go and check this artist out for more exceptional lizard work!

I'm a big fan of these new chaos models, painting a few myself in an arrogantly pink colour scheme. So it pleases me very much to see one painted in a completely different, but arguably more cool, dark colour scheme. That grey/blue armour has been painted so wonderfully by Matt, taking the time to paint on all those little dings and scratches. This is just simply a classic, sleek and cool paintjob, and I would love to see a whole force painted up in that colour scheme. Maybe you should get on that Matt? Go check out his page and the rest of his work!

This artist has a really amazing developed dark and gritty, yet remarkably clean painting style. Often with grittier paint jobs, they're not always so clean as the two don't go hand in hand. However, this artist has put a middle finger up to that sentiment, and has absolutely mastered both. They paint all sorts of beautifully gloomy pieces, but it's their Gloomspite and especially the squigs, that please my lucky little eyeballs. I implore you, go and check out the squigs on their page, and tell me you're not impressed. I dare you.

That's all she wrote. Or I wrote, to be more accurate. I hope you enjoyed this week's offerings into the world of miniature painting, and if you'd like to see more, then you'll have to wait until next week. Or just go through all the showcases thus far and check out all the artists who have been featured.

Thank you and good night! Or morning. Or afternoon. I don't know where you are so give me a break.
