Weekly Showcase - April 19th 2023

Updated: Jun 24, 2023

Here we are again with another showcase of some of the miniature wonders I have had the pleasure of viewing this week. Now that I'm on my third entry, I can safely say the hardest thing about creating these blogs, is simply getting the artists permission to showcase them in the first place. Maybe they're afraid of my words? I'd understand, that is after all why dad left all those years ago (may or may not be true). Anyway, don't let that take away from the pure spectacle we have in store today!

Luckily for both of us, this artist was more than happy to let me use their work. And boy what a treat! It's always harder to paint something that's been represented so well visually, through the use of film. But this paint job has exceeded itself and then some, with the contrast of the ghostly skin and the ragged cloth and armour. Placed expertly in a little dioramic scene, using OSL as the cherry on the cake. Truly a magnificent piece, fit for a ghostly king. And if you agree and would like to see more, then please go and have a look at what else the artist has to offer by checking out the link in their name!

Never have I seen a warband fit it's name more characteristically than this one. The incredible paintjobs show the beauty of nature mixed with rotting flesh. If they didn't look so at home with it, I'd probably feel the need to ask them if they're feeling alright. The gritty atmosphere oozes off the paint job, just like the pus from their wounds. How delightful. This picture doesn't do enough credit to Tim, so please check out his page to see more!

This artist has such a distinct grim style, I love how he is able to paint almost anything and make it look like it fits the world he has created through his paintjobs. The conversion here is great too, as I think we can all agree that we would have loved for there to be an imposing zombie dragon available for the armies of death. Well now there is, albeit just one, and in the possession of Sven. If this kind of style appeals to your cold heart like mine, then you're going to love everything else he has created, so go check out his page!

I will always be a sucker for the lizardmen, and like a moth, I'm also a sucker for lighting. So here Chris is treating me to both. The use of LED's to create the illusion of fire is something I haven't often seen, but now that I have, you better believe I'll be looking for more of it. One thing I dislike about flying models, are the transparent stands they need, so I love that they have been swapped out with trees and rocks to ensure the basing only reinforces the excellent paint job and creativity. If you'd like to see how the LED's were made, check out his page!

And another week of showcases has come to an end. I know, I'm sorry, but all good things must come to an end. Or must they? Because if you were to go and check out all of the four artist's pages, then the good times could keep on rolling. So you should probably go and do that. And once you've finished, come back and let me know how you got on. Maybe even get in touch about having yourself showcased, so you can provide the good times to everyone else? C'mon, don't be selfish now.
