Weekly Showcase - 8th May 2024

Welcome, welcome and welcome to you hiding in the corner over there. You've come at just the right time, because here's four new artists providing their artwork for you to get your miniature painting mojo back!

The first artist gracing our eyes today is doing so in absolutely spectacular fashion. Sometimes you just come across a paintjob that really gets your heart racing and palms sweaty, and this one has certainly done so for me. The style of painting looks reminiscent of a renaissance style piece of art, whilst the pastel choice of colours provide a sickly flower feeling. And I couldn't mean that in a better way. You really should go and check out this artist's other work in detail, because they've swiftly become one of my new favourites!

Trev is up next, with his take on one of my favourite sculpts of all time. It's always a bit of a challenge to create a paintjob that is both suitably drab and gritty, whilst also popping with colourful contrast. But Trev has done just that, by straying away from making the 'wig' overly gore-y and painting it in beautiful blends of purple and pink. This then pops against the rest of the muted colour scheme and just looks so fantastic. The detail on his book is lovely too. Go and check out Trev's page for more beautiful stuff!

This wonderful paintjob is provided to us from a studio of artists, of which I believe two artists worked on this big boy. This paintjob is a mindblowing one, staying away from the traditional greens and yellows, and creating a skin tone from grey tones that somehow looks amazing. That's impressive in itself, regardless of the wonderful brush control and detailing that has been achieved here. Having two people work on a cohesive piece is probably harder than credit is given, so fair enough. Go and check out this page for some beautiful pieces of miniature art!

Finally today we have Robin bringing us the saturation we so desperately crave. I'm starting to become more and more attracted to these styles of painting, taking grim looking sculpts and making them more colourful than they deserve to be! Robin clearly agrees and has ensured this little guy pops with all the right colour, without looking too over the top. I love the contrast work achieved through the terrain of the blues against the yellows of the skin. Overall, fantastic stuff, and there's much more to be found on Robin's page!

And that's another weekly showcase done, full to the brim with inspirational goodness to get you out of your funk. It's imperative tthat you check ou the artists featured each week, so we can keep spreading the wonderful miniature art we create with eachother. As long as we can keep doing that, maybe, just maybe, the world will be a better place. And failing that, well at least you will have seen an unholy amount of beautiful art to burst your eyeballs. Then it doesn't matter if the world remains ugly.

Help me make the world prettier and submit your work to be featured by getting in touch via here, plasticpreacher@gmail.com or @plasticpreacher via Instagram.

Thanks!
