Hello friends of new and old, how's everything going? I come to you today with a little snapshot look at a wonderful painting competition, organised by the supportive mother of the miniature painting community, Rae (@raerah). She is always the biggest advocate of people being proud of their work and sharing positivity with each other, and Stoneheart 2024 was a clear reflection of that.
This painting competition was designed for anyone of any skill level to submit a piece of work to share with fellow painters, and be proud of doing so. Too often with the big boy painting competitions, such as the prestigious Golden Demon, the quality of work delivered by the best of the best, intimidate anyone else from entering, due to not believing they have a chance of winning. Not that winning should really be the point of doing so, but of course it can be disheartening to receive absolutely nothing for a project you spent a huge amount of time and effort on. And of course, if you're someone that compares your work to others, you'll never find happiness or satisfaction in a competition full of the crazy talent it draws in. So Rae's Stoneheart competition allowed for people to have a chance at winning prizes for simply submitting a piece and taking part, showing that it's the thought that truly counts. From speaking to Rae, it seems Stoneheart 2024 was an immense success, with far more submissions entered than predicted, of all eclectic styles and skill levels. I'm so glad to see so many people taking part in something like this as it shows how needed it was for us as a community, proving that community spirit is still very much alive, even in these darkened days. I picked out a few of my favourites that were submitted to Stoneheart 2024 so you can see them below.
That was just a very small selection and there was a whole load more pieces of art submitted for this competition, all of which can be looked at over at the Short Circuit presents Stoneheart page on Instagram (@shortcircuithobbies). I strongly implore you to take the time to check out the work and their respective artists, as I'm sure you'll be in for a chance of finding your next favourite artist! So if all of that sounds like something that's right up your street, and you're now sobbing in the corner of your room over missing this competition, then fear not. Rae is already planning the next instalment in this painting competition, complete with a brand new theme. In fact, there's plans all year for different painting competitions with different themes to keep you on your paint covered toes.
This competition is for any and all, and if you've been wanting to create a piece of miniature art to enter into something, and feel good and proud about doing so, then this truly is the competition for you. I promise you'll be met with nothing but support and perhaps a virtual pat on the head or back. Make sure you go and follow @raerah and @shortcircuithobbies to stay in the loop about the details of the next instalment in this wonderful painting competition, and who knows, maybe you'll be the next winner!
Lots of cool entries.
